Name the support. Keep roles distinct.

Clear categories help readers understand what a relationship does—and what it does not mean.

Record material contributions

A future register could distinguish grants, sponsorship, infrastructure credits, compute, event support and other in-kind resources.

Use precise relationship labels

Supporter, participant, collaborator, sponsor, grant funder, infrastructure provider and vendor describe different relationships.

Separate support from decisions

Funding should not determine technical conclusions, confer standards influence or create preferential access to governance.

Make the record reviewable

Explain the scope and period of material support so that the relationship can be understood in context.
